I recently completed my journalism masters. For the last ten months, I have been attending classes; learning how to use professional recording equipment; perfecting the ever-changing art of the piece-to-camera; and running around London with various audio recorders, cameras, and tripods.
I’ve lost count of the number of times potential interviewees have hung up the phone on me after hearing the words “Are you available for an interview? My name is Jenni Graham and I’m a trainee broadcast journalist at City Univers…. Hello..?!”
The Broadcast Journalism MA and my time at City University London is over and it’s time to step out into the real world, away from the comfortable bubble of education (but not before a nostalgic round-up of everything I have learnt over the course of this exciting and exhausting year…)
At the end of the video you will find a selection of audio and video clips from my television and radio simulations this year. Hopefully these clips will give you a sense of what I have been up to.
Here is my end-of-year review:
* Video correction: The caption at 9m36s should read “February 2013 (Assessed)” and not “February 2012 (Assessed)”
Did you find this video useful? What did you think of the compilation of radio and television news simulations at the end of the video? Do you think these simulations are worthwhile or a waste of time? Let us know in the comments section below or join in the debate on Twitter @wannabehacks.
